A rafter is the supporting construction of a roof, his purpose is to carry the roofs covering (tiles..) plus hand over the load caused by for example a layer of snow, wind or its own weight over to the principal walls of the building.
Wooden rafters help maintain a healthy climate in the building. Even from the point of view of a fire, these rafters are better than steel constructions.
Rafters are an important part of roofs and the covering of buildings. We could say they take care of creating a roof’s coat and its shape. They pass the weight of from the roof to the supporting walls of the construction. Regularly are rafters bonded together by a carpenters binding.
